My shampoo bars have taken some time to perfect, but finally a formula for dry hair that is pH balanced, foamy and hydrating. Shampoo bars are  not soaps, but they have a lower pH which is what your hair and scalp needs.

This specific bar is mint scented. Cooling, refreshing and clean, but with the added benefit of helping any dandruff problems you might have. The addition of silk amino acids also help to moisturise and hydrate.

These bars are fine for coloured hair, and do not have a drying effect on bleached hair.

See the details below if you need to know how to use them or have any questions about shampoo bars in general.

HOW TO USE:

Using a shampoo bar is a little different to liquid shampoos. Of course you wet your hair, rub the bar over your head a couple of times, then massage as normal, just like a liquid, but here are the differences:

Once every 2 days / Dry:

Shampoo bars (formulated properly) shouldn’t be used every day. You simply shouldn’t need to wash it every day, even if you have oily hair. But what big companies don’t tell you is that you shouldn’t use liquid ones every day either. Every time you wash your hair you are stripping it of natural oils which it needs to be healthy. Store bought products add more chemicals to their products to make it seem like your hair is conditioned and clean if used on a daily basis, but unfortunately its not.

So use the bars once every 2 days to avoid drying out your hair (and seeing what the big companies cover up).

It may take time:

It can take some time to transition from store bought chemical products to shampoo bars. The bars have to remove the build up of chemicals and restore balance to your hair. This can take 1 wash to 3 weeks, but the good news is that visually, other people probably won’t notice, it will just feel a little strange when you wash your hair. But don’t worry, it won’t last. Stick with it and you’ll see the difference.

The most frequent comments or questions are around the hair feeling dry or matted in the shower or when wet. Yep, this happened to me and I panicked, but actually it’s very normal and the most common. When your hair dries after washing, it will feel clean and better than normal. For me, this stopped after 4 washes when all the previous chemical build up was gone.

TO GET THE BEST OUT OF YOUR SHAMPOO…..

  • Don’t leave your shampoo bar in water for long periods of time as it will disappear and get very mushy. Try to keep it in a dry place between uses as it will last longer.

WARNING

Everyone has different skin and even natural ingredients can irritate the skin. Always do a patch test with any product you put onto your hair. Stop using if any irritation is caused. Do not swallow. Keep out of eyes. If this occurs, rinse well with water. If any problems persist, consult a doctor.

INGREDIENTS:

There is a lot of controversy over the chemical sounding names of some ingredients, but as with all my products, you know that I’ve done a lot of research and testing. Theses bars only use natural derived products that really benefit the health of your skin and hair. So for example, when you see the words ‘Pantothenic acid’, you might be worried, but it’s just the chemical name (which I have to use by law) for Vitamin B5. ‘Decyl Glucoside’ sounds synthetic and chemical, but in reality it is simply the glucose (sugar) from corn starch mixed with fatty alcohols, which is great for those with sensitive skin and this is why it’s used in baby shampoo…..

Other products you may have heard of, such as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), are purely synthetic and harsh on your hair which is why I don’t use them. However, the names of these ingredients look so similar that they can get confused with the coconut version SLSa (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate) which meets all ECOCERT standards. So rest assured, they may all sound a little chemically, but you know I only use the best and most natural products.
