A secret that has never been revealed to those outside of the soap makers in that region……. until now

It has been a labour of love. Trial after trial. Test after test. My lovely French testers have been busy trying and critiquing each recipe until it was perfect……. and now it is.

  • Each soap comes in the traditional Marseille shape, a 200g cube.
  • Stamped with the traditional method of press and mallet.
  • Unscented to reveal it’s traditional and pure olive oil ‘soap’ smell
  • Cured for 2 months before it is sold to achieve the best soap properties

SAVON DE MARSEILLE   Vs   SAVON A LA MARSEILLAISE

Savon de Marseille has been made in the Marseille region of France for hundreds of years. Heating and stirring the oils in a copper pot continuously over 10 days is the original method of making it. For modern soap makers, if they make the soap in the same traditional way, it allows a soap to bear an official seal and bear the name “Savon de Marseille”. However, the name and seal only refers to how it is made, not what is in the recipe.

In Hong Kong, the traditional process of making Savon de Marseille is not possible (mainly becasue I need to sleep at some point). However, with modern making processes, it is possible to get the recipe to an exact Marseille soap. Modern soap making techniques do not change the quality, smell or texture of the soap, but because it is made using a modern techniques, my soaps are called Savon a la Marseillaise.

TO GET THE BEST OUT OF YOUR SOAP…..

  • Don’t leave soap in water for long periods of time as it will evaporate. Try to keep it in dry conditions if not in use as it will last longer.
  • To get the best from the ingredients, you should use soap like you would wash your hair. Creating foam, then applying over your body and washing off at the end. This allows the ingredients a few minutes to connect with the skin, rather than being washed straight off.
  • You should always moisturise your skin after washing to retain moisture.

WARNING
