‘Acid’ sounds like they really shouldn’t be in natural products and they are created in a lab somewhere, but many of them, especially the ones I use, are natural and have some really good uses. They can be amazingly beneficial for your skin, if used right. So let me introduce you to the acid items in my products.
CITRIC ACID
Citric Acid is a weak natural acid that is found in citrus fruits like lemons and limes. If you like science, then the molecular formula is C6H8O7.
Making items with natural ingredients ( basically food ) Citric Acid helps to make sure that no nasty items grow on them, like a natural preservative. It does this by killing bacteria, which also makes it great as a antibacterial ingredient.
STEARIC ACID
Stearic Acid is a saturated long chain fatty acid. It’s basically found in animal and vegetable fats. It’s a huge part of Cocoa and Shea butter.
It helps to harden soap bars, however I don’t use it for that. I use it in my shaving soap becasue it helps create a rich, long lasting lather that feels beautifully velvety and helps the skin remain hydrated by preventing or slowing moisture loss from the skin’s surface.
